Gideon Farm Trails
I have been hiking down by the Minnesota River a lot lately. It started with a drive I did down Nicollet, just for the heck of it one day when I could not get into Highpoint because of an event. I just wanted to see how it transitioned as it went south, but then I saw a sign for Gideon Farm historical site. I stopped and it was an old farmstead which was now part of the Bloomington Park system. I looked at the farm and such and liked that well enough but followed the sign for the trails and later realized they connected to the Minnesota River Valley Wildlife Refuge a trail system of 99 miles protecting the river. I had went to the main center a few weeks ago for a hike, but I didn’t realize there were so many great trails. I have been there 3 times since the Gideon Farm entrance and am really enjoying being in nature this summer more than past summers.
