The Smells of Midsummer

Don Krumpos · Diary

This afternoon I took a bike ride up Bay Settlement and up Van Lanen Rd. It was a nice, but slightly windy afternoon. Of course I go by the farm for nostalgia sake. The smells of mid summer are so familiar to me and it makes me miss being a boy and rucking through the woods with my dog Dori, or playing in the sandbox, or playing “kick the can” with some friends over.

This truly has been a great summer so far in that respect; that I get to slow down and really think and appreciate the changing of the seasons from day to day, rather than being stuck inside of a building all day. I want to find a way to make a more sensible way of life a reality and have it be sustainable.

I feel like I am not making as much progress in the projects as I want. I am still making progress, but maybe I expect more since I have so much time. Since I am trying hard, I suppose I will not see the progress until I look backward from a future date. I do wish Jojo and I were traveling more or out enjoying nature but, we are trying to buckle down and get art projects done.

I found out there is an opportunity for me to teach at UWGB again this fall. I think I will take it. That is great because it will afford me the time to make more art and spend time with the kids.
