Back to Penland

Don Krumpos · Diary

We woke up early to get Jojo to Penland by 9. We drove through the winding roads of the misty Blue Ridge Mountains. I got her there a tad bit late. She started her change-over duties and I hung out at Penland. It was a strange feeling to be at a place I was 5 years earlier. This time I had a lot more time to relax and simply observe, where last time I was in class much of the time. I revisited all of the grounds and relived the memories. I got to walk around with Jojo and tell her some of my memories. She is going to love her week here.

I got to eat dinner with her and then left to drive east to the coast. I drove through the Blue Ridge Mountains missing her. By the time the sun went down I was out of the mountains and into the Piedmont region and the normal flat sloping hills and boring highway driving. I made it as far as Burlington and couldn’t find a campground so stayed in a cheap motel.
